We are the Society of Global Engineers (SGE). SGE is a student-run organization dedicated to promoting study and work abroad among students of the College of Engineering. In our increasingly globalized economy, it is imperative that engineers—the designers, pilots, and entrepreneurs—of our generation know a bit about how the world works as a whole, and that is why we believe the international experience is a necessary element in the education of an engineer.
Now that you know that about us, I guess I might as well be completely honest. The free food will just be one of many highlights at SGE's first event of the year: "China". Part of the reason for why we're generously providing a meal to you, should you find yourself in the right place at the right time, is so that over dinner we can help enlighten you about the wonders that studying and working abroad have to offer you. We have lined up a series of students and professors who have either studied or worked in China to speak about their experiences and answer any questions about going abroad you might want to ask between bites of jalapeño chicken and stir-fried vegetables. You have to admit, that's a pretty morally sound ulterior motive for bribing you all with free dinner.
