about race, ethnicity, or Asian
Pacific American communities. We will share interactive activities,
innovative assignments, and successful
strategies for educators. Facilitators include editors and contributors
to the new book Teaching About
Asian Pacific Americans: Effective Activities, Strategies, and
Assignments for Classrooms and
Communities (Rowman & Littlefield, 2006). Each chapter in the book is a
lesson plan that can be adapted
for other ethnic groups as well. A light lunch will be served.

Haiti Fundraiser: The First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor, located on Washtenaw Avenue just off of South University, will sponsor a Haitian dinner on March 31 in the church social hall. They have been sponsoring health care mission activities in Haiti for several years, sending physicians, nurses, and other health care professions to provide patient care, engineers to upgrade the hospital facilities, and money to purchase supplies and medications and to pay employees. Church members on the faculty of the UM Nursing School have also established a nursing education program in Haiti.
