Description: Since the early days of the ready mixed concrete industry in the 1920s, technological advances, production capabilities and practices of concrete producers have evolved into an advanced science.
Speaker: Karthik Obla, Ph.D., P.E. is the Managing Director, Research and Materials Engineering at the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA). He has over 15 years of experience in concrete research and testing.

Description: The School of Information
Harold Abelson, a candidate for dean of SI. He is Class of 1922 Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a candidate for dean of the School of Information.
He joined MIT in 1973 and was awarded an endowed chair in 1992. He was awarded one of MIT's first MacVicar Fellowships for significant and sustained contributions to teaching and undergraduate education in 1992 and elected a fellow of the IEEE in 1994.
Over the course of a 30-year career, Abelson's interests have evolved from traditional math with a focus in algebraic topology to early programming and improvement of computer science education to broader questions of educational technology, open computer resources, Internet technology and policy, and the role of universities within the public domain.
Abelson earned his A.B. summa cum laude in mathematics at Princeton University and his Ph.D. in mathematics from MIT.
A reception will follow.
