Art/Night for Graduate Students in the Humanities and Arts
Come and join your fellow Humanities and Arts graduate students for this
special evening featuring the new exhibition Embracing Eatonville.
Don't miss this free opportunity to mingle with other graduate students
in the humanities and arts, explore UMMA Off/Site, and delve into the
wonders of the Museum Shop! Hor d'oeuvres and refreshments will be
served.
Founded in 1886, Eatonville, Florida, is the oldest black incorporated
town in the United States and was home to the celebrated Harlem
Renaissance writer Zora Neale Hurston. This exhibition looks at the
spirit and character of Eatonville through the lens of contemporary
photographers Dawoud Bey, Lonnie Graham, Carrie Mae Weems, and Deborah
Willis, each of whom have created a new body of work for this
exhibition.

We are ready to roll out our 1st MPRI Volunteer Training session this Thursday, 2/8/07 from 6:30 - 8:30pm at Catholic Social Services (located at 4925 Packard Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48108).
This training will be the only session required to become a Volunteer Driver and will serve as Part I of a 2 part training for Mentors. It is also open to anyone seeking information about MPRI volunteer opportunities.
The training will explain our Volunteer Driver program and requirements. It will include testimonies by a volunteer who has provided transportation, and a MPRI participant who experienced the difference between taking a bus home and getting picked up by a MPRI Volunteer Driver. There will also be opportunities to discuss and practice responses to potential challenges and opportunities.
Refreshments will be served. Please e-mail your RSVP by 3pm on Thursday so we can have a count for supplies and food. Please help us spread the word by forwarding this to anyone who may be interested in joining the MPRI team. Thanks for your help! We hope to see you there!
